Over twenty years ago, Ohio initiated the deregulation of energy to allow businesses and industries the ability to choose their energy supplier and remain competitive, while bringing jobs and economic development to the state. Today, residential consumers are able to benefit from the Energy Choice Ohio program as well.

According to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), the state is seeing the benefits of energy choice in Ohio as nearly 2.4 million electric customers and 1.7 million natural gas customers are currently participating, either individually or with aggregation groups.

By giving consumers the ability to choose an electric or natural gas supplier, competition opens up a greater variety of pricing plans and gives the customer the power to choose the rate option that is best for their home or business.
