Five Great Places to Watch a Lions Game in Detroit
No city on earth knows sports the way that Detroit does. The Lions, the Tigers, the Redwings, or the Pistons: Detroiters know how to support their favorite teams. Lions season is in full swing. We’ve pulled together the five most iconic Detroit bars to watch the Lions play.

Nemo’s is an old Detroit standard. It was named the third best sports bar in America by Sports Illustrated in 2005, and if you ask anyone at Nemo’s, they still believe this to be true in 2016. They have cold beer, good food, and plenty of tvs for watching the game. They have plenty of parking behind the bar and offer a $3 shuttle to and from the games. Rumor has it that the shuttle rides can be as fun as the games themselves. (Don’t forget to tip your driver!)
The Detroiter Bar has been called the ‘Cheers of Detroit,’ because so many locals hang out there. It is located right in the heart of downtown, and has some of the best burgers in the city. It’s a great place to sit and watch the game with friends, or catch their free shuttle to and from the game itself.
Detroit Beer Company
Opened in 2003, The Detroit Beer Company is one of the best places to grab an ice cold beer before, during, or after a Lions game. It’s located in the heart of downtown Detroit on Broadway. Detroit Beer Company has a warm and friendly interior, complete with a visible brewhouse. You can watch them make the very beer you’re drinking!
Harry’s Detroit Bar
If you’re looking for rooftop patios, Harry’s is your best bet. You can watch the Lions play and enjoy views of the entire Detroit skyline. Harry’s offers a wide menu that includes everything from burgers to quesadillas and a full menu of craft beer. (Also, when the new Red Wings stadium opens sometime next year, Harry’s will be practically across the street from its front door.)
Located in an actual warehouse in Hamtramck, Fowling Warehouse (rhymes with Bowling Warehouse) is a relative newcomer to the Detroit bar scene. Founded in 2010, the bar has 20 ‘lanes’ for its signature game- a combination of football and bowling. They also have a full bar, and several big screen tvs. You and your friends will never have to worry about commercials, because at Fowling Warehouse, there’s always something to do.
Detroit is arguably the greatest city in America for sports. The fans are true, the beer is cold, and there are ample places to watch the Lions play with other fans. Volunteer Energy is proud to be a premier partner of the Detroit Lions and to support them through this 2016 football season.
